Scheduling a Tattoo Appointment

The following sections may appear blunt to some, but I'm just trying to present them in a clear, direct fashion.

Consultation

A few weeks before you are looking to get tattooed, I'd like you to stop by the shop for a consultation.
At this consultation I will talk to you about your ideas, what is possible, where it's going on the body and take a tracing of that spot.
Be as specific as you can when describing how you want your tattoo to look, bring any reference pictures you think will help describe your ideas, but be aware that I am going to make the tattoo in my own way and my own style.
I don't tattoo like many of the artists in the New Orleans area, so if you have previous experiences or expectations in this regard (in terms of style, and/or method) please let me know at this time so I may explain.
Please do not bring a friend/boyfriend/girlfriend along for the consultation. While we're sure you value their opinion, the consultation should be between you and the artist.

I will usually draw up your tattoo either the day or two before, or the same day you're getting tattooed, so you won't get to see the design until the day you're getting tattooed, so the consultation is very important.

Deposit

There are generally between 20 - 25 spots available for appointments per month.
Either at the time of the consultation or upon a confirmation of an appointment you'll need to pay a deposit of $100 to book time for a tattoo.
The deposit is only paid once, and it will be taken from your final session, if you have more than one.
It is non refundable should you change your mind about getting tattooed and cancel your appointment.
If you need to move an appointment, it should be done at least 24 hours before the appointment, any later than that and you'll lose the deposit and a new one will have to be paid.
The deposit can be paid at the shop or via paypal.
The email address you'll need for the transfer is adammontegut@gmail.com.

Your first session at Hell or High Water Tattoo.

The day of your first session you shouldn't make any other plans.
There's usually a bit of drawing, talking, waiting, stencil-making and coffee drinking going on, and I don't like to rush things, so for everyone's sake, clear your schedule for the day.
Remember to come well rested and make sure you've eaten.
Feel free to bring lunch, snacks or drinks for the day.
If you'd like us to put your food in our fridge, just ask.

We have a really nice waiting room that we built just for you, so we request that you please stay there until it's time to start.
You are welcome to bring a friend along.

If your tattoo requires more than one session, please let me know right from the start if you are on a budget or can only make appointments every couple of months.
I prefer if we can keep a regular schedule of sessions to completion. It can be very difficult to work on an older piece after having a long hiatus - depending on the piece, some of the sessions may include preparations of certain techniques (such as layering, or certain glowing effects) in which case the immediate sessions are more crucial to the integrity of the work.
You'll have to wait a minimum of 14 days (2 weeks) between sessions, so the tattoo has time to heal.
You're likely to have anywhere from two weeks to a month to plan everything, so we ask that you start saving and planning a good while before hand.

I most enjoy tattooing illustrative narratives (stories, myths, books, etc), regardless of culture. But I still enjoy tattooing most other themes. Don't hesitate to ask any questions! I DON'T tattoo portraits or pin-ups.... email for details if necessary!
